The R25Z-9A mini excavator to be presented at BAUMA 2013 fills a big gap in the Hyundai range between models R16-9 and R27Z-9 in the 2.6 t class of mini crawler excavators. This mini excavator has a Mitsubishi engine (TIER IV) with Z rating (Z = Zero-Turn-Radius, which means that it can turn within its own contours and so can work in extremely confined spaces) and be fitted with buckets with a capacity of up to 0.07 m3.

This mini excavator will be supplied on the European market with a glass ROPS/FOPS cab. The R25Z-9A cab has a spring-loaded seat, foldable pedals, sensitive joystick and storage space to enhance operator comfort. This is particularly important for small construction equipment, as mini excavators are often used in difficult work environments, such as demolition work inside buildings with poor visibility or lighting.

The instrument panel has warning indicators, cooling water temperature gauge, fuel gauge and a display of operating hours to allow the operator the check the machine status at a glance. Hyundai Heavy Industries paid particular attention to good soundproofing – the noise level for the operator inside the closed cab is only 82 dB(A), with only 94 dB(A) outside. Another important factor when developing the R25Z-9A was easy access for maintenance. All doors, flaps and hoods can be fully opened, all service points are located in the same area for effective daily checks.

This new Korean-made mini excavator has been fitted with a long life plastic air filter for easier maintenance. The long service life of hydraulic filters (1,000 hours) and hydraulic oil (5,000 hours) reduce operating costs. Lubrication intervals have been increased from 50 to 250 operating hours thanks to the use of self-lubricating bushings. The R25Z-9A has a maximum excavation depth of 2,420 mm and its boom length of 4,480 mm makes it top of the range for this class of excavators. As with all Hyundai Heavy Industries mini excavators, the R25Z-9A has two driving speeds (2.5/4.5 km/h), so it can be used more slowly in a delicate work environment or be driven at higher speed to the work site.

The new excavator is 4,030 mm long, 2,500 mm high and 1,500 mm wide. It comes standard with 250 mm rubber tracks for particularly low ground pressure and with blade. It has a wide range of optional attachments for use in construction, excavation, and landscaping work.
